Standards Based Model

Klamath River Early College of the Redwoods has adopted the Reinventing Schools Coalition's award winning standards based model. Using best-practices research, our academic model replaces the traditional grade levels with a personalized learning plan for each student. The standards-based model removes any mystery about what a student should know and be able to do to earn a high school diploma. Now students, families and community have the power and opportunity to take a more active role in the education of our youth.

As our school is based on the dream of the community, Klamath River Early College of the Redwoods students are prepared to be successful at colleges and in professional careers because all students are required to demonstrate mastery of academic standards at a level of the equivalent of "B" or above.

In addition to the California mandated standards, KRECR students also demonstrate mastery of standards in a content area defined by our community as important skills in the 21st century. This means students have a personalized learning plan and can demonstrate progress through the following 11 content areas:

Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Science, Career Development, Personal / Social / Health, Service Learning, Technology, Cultural Awareness and Expression, Yurok Language

Early College

As an Early College, all KRECR students are co-enrolled at College of the Redwoods and have the opportunity to earn a tuition-free AA degree (or two years of college credit) with their high school diploma.
