Community Action Projects
Students spend a trimester working in small groups to address an issue in the community. Past project partners and issues have included:
- Yurok Tribal fisheries department: What efforts are the Yurok Tribe undertaking to preserve and protect the Yurok Tribe's fisheries resource?
- Klamath River Watershed Restoration: How can young people get involved in the Klamath River Watershed restoration efforts? Students created and taught a watershed basketball game; designed promotional bumperstickers and posters and spread the word at local elementary schools.
- Yurok language preservation: KRECR students have created billboards, tee-shirts, murals and books, all promoting Yurok language usage.
- Honoring our local heroes: Students conducted oral histories and took portraits of their local heroes, which can be seen in the Yurok Tribal headquarters in Klamath.
- Community organic gardening
- Teen Center: Partnering with Boys and Girls Club, KRECR students organized a series of healthy and safe teen activities in Klamath, based on data collected in a survey.

Community Fellowships
In fellowships, students are placed with a local organization after interviews and a mutual selection process. Students spend Friday afternoons for 7 weeks working on a particular community issue.

- Community Assistance Network
- Yurok Tribe's Environmental/Cultural Resources division
- Crescent City/Del Norte Chamber of Commerce

Klamath River Early College of the Redwoods students show what they know in a variety of ways. Based on research about how students best learn, KRECR connects students to community leaders to apply their learning in real-life situations. Through these opportunities, students gain leadership, job and life skills.
